You'd think, but I live in a massive student area in Bristol, part way between a large UoB area and large UWE area, and a lot of the student housing boasts cable internet to every room and I still get really good throughputs.

Ditto. Always get my 10mbit and never had a service dropout.

Cable for me i wouldn't touch adsl/2 with a barge pole now 50mb speeds for me are good same with 20, had a few issues first month with 50m but its sweet now 20m just feels slow now.

really anoyes me about VM, claiming that their Fibre Optic.
It's Fibre to the cabenet then coax to home, so essentally FTTC, not FTTH as they make out in there ad's.

VM cable for me everytime. I'm with o2 now since i've moved into my own place and miss the 20mb VM speeds i used to have. Only get 2.5mb because i'm so far from the exchange :mad:
