ADSL Connectivity Issues

Sorry to double post but I have an update.

Connection was 12hrs stable last nite then 1 loss of sync then stable again through the engineer visit until 11.30am.

Just had almost 2 hours of not being able connect so the issue is unresolved still... I rang AOL who said they cannot proceed without the report from the BT engineer.

So off to work now but will request a downgrade in speed when I get home, if this cannot be done asap then bye bye AOL. :mad:

You might very well be 2.27km from the exchange by a straight line, but you're nearer 6km from the exchange by cable (or you have bits in your line pushing up the attenuation per kilometre)

how'd you know it'll be roughly 6KM via the actual cable? :confused:

you have 1mb through about 6km of cable!!!!??? Did i mention that mine couldn't even sync at 512k through 4-5km of line !!!??? lol im so depressed

For copper, roughly (IIRC it's about 7dB/km for Cu and ~15 for Al, but don't quote me on that).
