ADSL Face Plate Replacement

How did you manage to have an ADSL faceplate in 1995? I think BT only started trialling ADSL in the UK in around 2000.

The chances are that replacing the faceplate will do absolutely nothing. If you want to check this just unplug it and plug your modem straight into the test socket behind without a filter (maybe just using a cable that came with a 56k modem or something). The ADSL modem will sync up fine without a filter at all and this will bypass all your extension wiring. If your stats are exactly the same (which I'm sure they will be) then you know it's a waste of money.

The new filter will simply plug in unless you have any extension wiring in which case you'll need to push those wires in. The XTE faceplate is generally regarded as the best :)

I was one of the trialists:D must have been 98 then definately in the 90's though...........such a long time ago. I know i wasnt in my 20's when i got it! im 28 now!

Call me a dumb but how can i plug a 56 k modem lead plug in? on one end its got a white wide plug to go in the wall sockets where as my router has small square grey lead?

Or do you mean use the 56k modem lead and plug that in to the normal phone socket behind the face plate? i didnt know that would work!

That's right - you just need a cable that's BT plug to RJ11, no need for a filter, the ADSL modem will sync up :)
