ADSL is there really a perfect isp ?

Be have been really good for me, although expensive at £24.99 a month for 24meg ( I get about 22) its worth it. No caps, no throttling. The phone support which is based in Poland isn't brilliant but its more than adequet!

Have spoken to be*....
They say as i'm 4km from the exchange i'm not going to get more than 2mb from the line???
Told them I'm 2.5km from the exchange in a straight line and am already getting synced with BT at 5.5mb and can download on speedtest and about 4400kb/s off peak....
They then mumbled something about not being guaranteed a connection of over 2mb due to the distance so therefore i am not going to join em now! Even on the unlimited package i would still not be guaranteed any speeds over 2mg according to them, so that's put me right off. Will stick with BT although i do get throttled down to only 1.5mg during peak times! DOH!!!!

I've currently got ADSL24 and having moved to them after four+ years on Nildram I have certainly noticed an improvement in the quality of my connection and their support is top notch.

Ive never had a prob with UKFSN (Enta), come along way since i joined up with them in Feb, was only 3x Centrals up then, they've just lit the 6th today. :D

Zen.

Expensive? Yes, a bit more than the competition.
But their support is excellent, im actually speaking to people who know what they are talking about, and they dont bull.

I have to admit, whilst I had all manner of problems with BT a few months ago, since finding the problem the service has been great.

The router syncs nicely at >7MB and latencies are good.

I'd rather the call centres weren't all foreign though. :(

I'm going to stop talking about my connection.

Woke up this morning, and all of a sudden my connection that was capable of 7MBit is now only capable of 1.5MBit?

Making exchanges LLU capable should be a law.

Summary - DON'T go with BT.

Any provider can LLU any exchange - it's not BT's (Wholesale or Retail) fault if the LLUers don't do it...

The town I live in is too small really to make it worth it for any of the providers. It took a couple of years of petitions and begging for BT to upgrade the place for broadband anyway.

Trouble is, BT know there's nowhere else anyone can go. No cable, no LLU, no option except erratic IP profiles and dodgy lines! :(

what? there are dozens of isps you can switch to?

decent isps like zen, entanet and many others all work over a normal bt line

admittedly erratic profiles and dodgy lines is something else altogether. maybe you should start another thread if you need specific help on that. :)

Yes but they all use the same equipment.
What he's saying is that there is no way of getting away from BT with regards LLU.
Because you are using BT's equipment for MaxDSL no matter which ISP you use, a lot of the time switching ISP's because of problems won't help as it is the under-lying BT intrastructure which needs upgrading.

seriously mate, is that what you believe to be right..... oh dear. :(

you couldn't be more wrong if you tried. :)

i'm not talking about line issues/ip profiles/sync. of course if you have problems with these things, switching isps is not going to fix it. this is indeed a problem between your house and bt (wholesale) equipment at the exchange.

but for people with solid lines/sync rates but are being throttled during peak times, their problems really do disappear overnight when switching isps. you don't have to take my word for it. look around. you'll see it everywhere. :)

I agree with you there.
The ISP doesnt supply the line/maintenence between your house and the exchange, so if its faulty anyway, a new ISP isnt gonna do much good.
