I've just upgraded from a 2MB ADSL line to a ADSL MAX line (primarily for the higer uplink speeds).

The service was 'enabled' today (and I have had the confirmation from my ISP).

I've just run a line test and the speeds show as:

Up: 371 Kbps
Down: 1879 Kbps

The BT wholesale line checker shows that I should get:

Downlink of 6.5Mbps to 8Mbps and Up of up to 448Kbps

When should I expect to see the speeds get better ?

well it really depends on your snr.

Mine increased after a couple of hours or so, some others take a few days, all in all wait about 10 days before getting onto your isp.

I would ignore the bt wholesale checker, i should get 6 meg but i have been on 3 meg for 2 months now.

As others have said you will need to leave your router for up to 10 days for the line to establish the best connection speed and reliability. Don't go turning your router off and on as BT will think its breaking and reduce your speed.

Best idea seems to be to reboot it once a day actually, just don't go rebooting it constantly and you'll be fine - not everyone leaves their modem/routers on 24/7 and some people use USB modems so BT obviously need to take a few line drops a day in to account.
