Hello there people.

So I'm trying to help a friend correct some network issues and while taking a general look at the modem etc I noticed that the ADSL microfilter is stuck into the wall socket.

Anyone know what to do in this situation as it is probably what's causing the fault in the line and as such needs to be replaced.

Essentially, the bit that clips into the socket (Male) is stuck.

I do a broadband few days, and have done for 2 or 3 years, only once seen a faulty micro filter and that was because it had paint in it...

however it you really want to get it out pull it firmly and use something to push the plastic tab down - a pen top or pen... - pull firmly but not to break it... make sure the plastic tab looks like its squashed flat...

if pulling firmly does not help wiggle it about a little bit as well.. (still being careful not to break it)

Heh, I've come across several myself, it looks old and worn but there are other issues that I'm going to look at later but it was one of my main concerns.

I did attempt that, but my stuck I mean it's wedged in even so that the plastic tab is pushed down constantly but it's still stuck, like someones forced it in with a hammer or something.

probably the socket thing has come away from the front plate, try removing the plate and then you can push it forward (if it has indeed moved back)

One of my Filters was full of corrosion and another had a disconnected capacitor. I don't think they are all that robust.

If it's an extension socket then try removing the screws to the faceplate. Destroy if necessary and replace. If it's master socket then you'd want to be more careful. You can replace master socket faceplates with prefiltered ones.

Dismantle the phone socket until it comes out easy enough. Then probably worth getting a new face plate/socket box as it's 99% likely the box is damaged or cheap tat, and that's why it's gotten stuck.

I prefer using this type of filter also.
