A friend of mine who is on ADSL has recently bought a Linksys WRT54G, however at the time he didn’t realise that it didn’t have a modem built in, am I right in thinking that he can just buy a Linksys ADSL2MUE.

Also how would he go about setting it all up, I've tried to help but I'm with NTL so for me the setup was easy as its all plug & play.

Yes, ADSL2MUE will work fine.

For setting it up, the ADSL2MUE needs to be set to 'Bridged Mode Only' in the connection type box on the setup page (either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 I can't remember).

Once that's done (with the modem connected to a standard PC for that bit), the modem can be plugged into the WRT54G [via WAN port], and the WRT54G then setup at 192.168.1.1. On the WRT, connection type should be set as PPPoE, and the ADSL username and password may need to be entered. Aside from that, it should all then work.

Hope this helps, null :)
