OK, I have used ADSL for a few years, have been with Nildram and IDnet in that time and they were great for the most part, if a little expensive.

Now I am moving to a new house in a few weeks that can get cable, Virgin in particular.

Would people say I would be better sticking with ADSL rather than cable? There will be 3 people sharing the connection.

Main thing for me is reliability, not so fussed about masive download limits or blisteringly fast speeds, just something that is nice and reliable.

Hello VaderDSL,

I moved from ADSL to Cable Broadband.

I am on a special offer of £10 a month for 2Mbs which seems faster than it should be. I'd say it's more like 4 Mbps.

It has not gone wrong once since I've had it and is happily routing to 5 PCs.

It is unlimited downloads not that i've much need for that.

I was at the end of the line for ADSL so my connection was 512 kbps.

I'm so much happier broadband wise with cable.

Vote from me for cable!

I like my cable connection, it's been superb for me. I would check to see what ADSL options you have at your new place. After all, if you find you're limited to 1mbit or something then cable is the obvious option :) If you're in close proximity to the exchange and you have some LLU ISPs available then the choice is a bit trickier.

Aye I'm less than 750 metres physically so say 1km or just over line length?

There are a lot of LLU and ADSL2+ suppliers to choose from also.

My experience is that cable is much more reliable than adsl.
You can always change your name to VaderVirgin if you change over :D
