Have a customer with ADSL2+ and they keep dropping their connection.

They are using a Draytek 2830 and the Draytek has the latest firmware on it. We have had an engineer out to check the line, swap micro filter etc.

Below are the connection stats, now to me the SNR Margin at 13 seems too low to me, but can not remember if you want a high or low SNR with ADSL2+

ADSL Status Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
ADSL2+(G.992.5) SHOWTIME 1023937 12118692 13 35

Any suggestions

Cheers

Kimbie

ADSL Profiles are usually trained up with a target of 6db as called "Standard profile" if a line continues to drop, the profile will usually be raised to a higher profile (9db / 12 or 13db) which is known as a stable and super stable profile, 3db is usually fast-path)

The higher the SNR (IE 9 and 12/13db+) the less speed you will have, but in turn you may get a more stable line. The less SNR you have, IE <6db, the faster your line may be, however, you may find that if your line cannot handle the lower SNR rates, it will drop.

If you have a good line though, you will find that you can run it on 2db/3db for good speed, without it dropping left right and centre, I did have my old BE line running on 2.5db SNR Margins with no problems, was running that for years!

Generally if an ADSL circuit drops, it will auto adjust the SNR to counteract for the drops.
