Oky, finally been switched over, i originally was syncing at

Connection 13860 kbps 1021 kbps
Line Atten 27.5 db 14.2 db
Noise Marg 6.4 db 13.2 db

50ms ping

I dropped the SNR in my DGTeam FW to 50% and i now get the following


ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection 14335 kbps 1021 kbps
Line Atten 27.5 db 14.1 db
Noise Marg 3.2 db 11.6 db

48ms Ping


I know on a night time my Noise margin increases by roughly 0.5

Could i take it down any further?

How long was it you switched over? If it was less than 2 weeks ago I would not mess with the SNR untill the line has settled. I noticed my speed jumped up twice over the first week or so.

Ive got my SNR down to 1.5 and have been running stable for over 10 days now but I am closer to the exchange. The usual advice is to keep it around 3 though.

Also where you testing your ping speedtest.net? whould have hoped for a bit lower if it was me.
 
Got switched over today.

Think im going to leave the SNR ratio set to 50%. Ill see how it goes

I've been put on a gaming profile by my ISP now after asking them to sort the pings out. Th pings are now down to 20-30Ms.

Theyve said theyve done all they can their end to give me the best speed. So its upto me to tweak my own connection now.

Ill keep an eye on the stats and maybe resync daily for the next week or so, and see if it fluctuates at all.

I've also noticed that my SNR doesnt really change in the evening time too, which has to be a bonus.
 
I still would wait for a couple of weeks to be honest. Your ISP might have done all they can but the actual equipment at your telephone exchange still has not.

Those pings your getting now are more like it, though to give you this gaming profile they have probably turned interleaving off which makes the line a little less stable, so another reason not to tweak the SNR too much at this stage
 
I will wait and see what happens later tonight with the SNR

I'm pretty sure on my old ADSL package, the SNR never really dropped on an evening.

ill see what happens around 7pm ish and post stats again.
 
This is going to sound weird but,

With my PC upstairs, when i have the HDMI cable connected to my PC via a HDMI/DVI connecter, the speed of my wireless connection basically slows right down.

Utorrent for example. With it connected, struggle to hit 100kbps

Remove the HDMI cable and it steadily rises up to 1-1.3Mb/s

Does this sound right? Dodgy HMI cable?
 
Right, at 7pm my Upstream SNR decreased to 3.6.

I re-synced me router about 5 minutes ago:

Line Attenu 27.5 db..... 14.3 db
Noise Marg 6.4 db....... 6.3 db
 
What I found after my line was upgraded the SNR was fairly high somewhere over 8 I think then after a few days it dropped to 6 then a few more days down to 3. So I guess it was testing the line to see how stable it was each time it stepped down. So again it's best not to mess about with things while this is going on. If you manually adjust your SNR to a point where it makes it a bit unstable the equipment at the exchange might assume that the line can not handle the speed you should be getting and reduce your IP profile. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/...oadband-'ip-profile'-and-why-is-it-important?
