I've put together a system using some parts I had lying around, and I had a copy of XP so I thought Id use that, the cpu is Athlon II x4 620. I have either a WD Black 640gb sata3 or a WD Blue 250gb sata3 (WD2500aakx). Now WD's site says they are both advanced format drives, which I assume I would either align using a tool or partition using Windows 7 first then install XP. But WD Align says neither are AFD's and I tried another tool aswell which said they wern't either, and to be honest the Blue does feel a little sluggish installing and decompressing stuff, but using HD Tune & Crystal Mark they're not far off each other? So Im wondering is it the nForce 720 chipset or the drives that are malaligned or am I just use to using an SSD? Does anyone know if I need to align these drives?
