Advanced Format Drives & Windows XP

I've been reading about the sector size changes that HDD manufacturers are quietly introducing.

I also happen to be looking at a storage upgrade.

And I'm on XP 32bit.

I've ordered three drives:

2TB WD Caviar Black - not an advanced format drive as I understand and thus a safe option to have the OS on.

Two 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4EG - definitely advanced format drives so I'm going to have to fiddle with it

As I understand I'll need to run the Samsung Alignment Tool before use on XP - and in fact if I want to do any imaging on Vista or Win7...

Is there anything else I should consider and has anyone else had experiences (good or bad) with advanced format drives on XP?

I didn't want three Caviar Blacks no matter how much safer and less fiddling as they're twice the price of the Samsungs which I only need for storage and possibly a backup OS.
