1) No competitor links

2) The links don't work

3) A PC bought from there is very unlikely to have an overclocking BIOS.

4) Welcome :)

This is the set up
AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad-Core processor (2.3GHz, 2MB Cache) Genuine Windows(R) 7 Home Premium 4GB DDR2 memory 640GB hard drive 512MB ATI Radeon HD4350 graphics DVD Rewriter Built-in wireless (802.11b/g)

Most likely some cheap chineese unbranded motherboard with locked bios and non OC options whatsoever.

If it's still within 1 week of purchase take your money back and buy a proper PC, we can help you out with specs.

The paperwork is for another machine, Its for the more exspencive one they tried to charge me for:(

I also have the Advent in question and as far as I can tell it is not overclockable, The motherboard itself is a FOXCONN A7VMX-K, The BIOS is American Magatrends and I have searched google repeatedly and gone through the BIOS and it does not appear to be overclockable. The only thing I can think of is using overclocking software such as ClockGen (most likely wont work) or update the BIOS.

I found out today that you can overclock through the BIOS you will be happy to know I will post simple instructions asap. I am very happy at the moment as I got mine from 2.33Ghz to 2.53Ghz, it will go higher than that but im just keeping it at this to see what tempretures it reaches and if they are below 35 ish I will overclock more.

Finally

It has been a while since I said I was going to post instructions on overclocking the Advent CPQ9104 but thats because I have had to get it fixed twice by PC World as the overclocking has failed. The Overclocking does work, you can OC everything but I strongly recommend on overclocking the CPU as if you overclock the RAM or anything else for that matter it will break, the hardware cant cope with much exept the CPU. If you are serious about OCing then install a new cooler and it can easily be made to run faster but the stock CPU cooler can only manage 2.61Ghz which is what mine is clocked too. So anyway heres how to...
Launch The BIOS -Setup > Fox Central Control Unit > Fox Intelligent Stepping > Select CPU clock this should be set to 200, press the minus untill it goes up to about 215, then save and exit and it will re-boot, slowly increase this but go up in 5's as you will soon reach the max of about 2.61Ghz which is the highest stable temperature, good luck.

I never realised the private messaging system was closed on this forum.

I wanted to ask Didge3 about the cpq9104 or anybody else who may have bought it and how things are going with it... any problems or difficulties or has it been a great PC for them.

Thanks.
