Is it true that Advent Laptops are rubbish and are rebadged Packard Bell ?

They're not rubbish and they aren't rebadged Packard Bell.

They ARE at the lower end of the build-quality department but might represent good value - if you're buying new and now, I'd recommend a Dell Vostro like so many others have gone for on these forums.
