Advent Vega

Second hand, I'd struggle to justify buying a tablet new. Seeing if it can replace my laptop, which is only ever used for internet browsing and youtube...
Im the same with my laptop, only use it for web browsing and some videos now and again, which is why im looking into getting either a Vega or a Hannspad(1653 Model).

I've not seen the Hannspad but imagine its pretty much the same as the Vega.
Was so easy to update it to Honeycomb, reboot device in recovery mode, click a couple of exe files...

First thoughts are good, seems fast, web browsing is really good and for light amounts of typing it seems alright. Can't speak for battery life yet, didn't seem to use much last night though.
Build quality seems alright, it's solid enough and feels like it'd take a few knocks. Obviously it's not a work of art, but it's more than good enough.

It's really the viewing angles on the screen that let the thing down, it's not a deal breaker for me at the moment but will definitely be the reason to upgrade (if I like the tablet experience).

Anyone still using the Advent Vega?
I'd left mine to gather dust for the last while, Vegacomb was far better than the stock rom but still had numerous issues, force closes and other annoyances.
I picked it up a couple of days ago and tried a few roms on it. I really think it's unusable without Honeycomb or ICS on it, I struggle to use Android 2.2/2.3 without hardware buttons.
So many roms leave my touch screen an utter shambles.

Flashed the latest viewcomb release today while waiting for a windows install on new PC. It's definitely worth ditching Vegacomb if you're still on it and moving to this. Infinitely better! Touch screen seems good, no force closes on anything so far, including a couple of the Tegra zone games. Speed is good, wireless is solid (although not tested wifi and Bluetooth at same time yet...)
I'd had a couple of HoneyIce roms on to test but had found them a bit unstable, made the thing a bit of chore to use.

Still quite a healthy following for these things so hopefully things can only get better. Very impressed with this Viewcomb rom though, a new lease of life for this Vega.
