Can anyone suggest a good adventure game on the Gamecube? My wife is after one. Something in the Monkey Island vein.

Any ideas?

Erm, that's a bit of a tough call. Zack and Wiki on the Wii, which is out soon, is in a similar vein to Monkey Island (it even has a monkey in it...) but that's a pretty pointless suggestion.

Only one I can think of out of my collection is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - which is thoroughly awesome. It's not really what I'd call an adventure game, but it's fairly reasonably slow paced and has some decent puzzles. Adventure games like Zelda aren't really anything like Monkey Island.

Cheers. That's the impression I'd got - that there aren't many of them about for the Cube or Wii. I'm trying to point her in the direction of Zack & Wiki when that comes out, but was hoping for something in the interim. She's played some of the Zelda games, but she gets fed up with the combat and with having to ask me to do the bosses for her!

Not quite Monkey Island vein, but 'Beyond Good & Evil' is pretty fun :) Combat is easy, and gameplay seems fairfly unique with the photography bits (and enjoyable) :)

I agree. Beyond Good and Evil is one of the best games on the Gamecube, it's amazing how many people have no idea it exists.

I'll look into Paper Mario, maybe.

I played BG&E on PC and it was awesome. I've heard it called "the best game no-one played" and it really is. I loved that game. The closest we've had to Zelda on the PC, it really was.
