Advice - 4870 Vs 5750 / 5770

Hi all,

I was originally tempted to wait for the ATI 5850's to come down in price a bit. However, I feel a bit desperate for an upgrade as my 8800GT only has 256MB onboard, and is suffering in GTA4 as a result. Its a shame because otherwise its a decent card, just lacking memory.

So I've been looking at cards around the £100 mark, and there's these 2:

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB

Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB

Edit: Well we could factor in a 5770 for an extra £20 if its worth it:
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB

I like to play at 1080p resolution.

From what I've seen the 4870 is faster? but the 5750 has DirectX11 and I did read something about better image quality, if thats true?

Any advice? :)

ok, been reading various peoples opinions around forums, and reviews and people are quiet split.

However, I am edging to a 5770, because it performs about the same as a 4870, uses much less power/heat, DirectX11 and has better video acceleration. I've read about the technical features of DirectX11 and it sounds impressive, also with hope that drivers will improve further in the future.

Not only this, from here:

In the future, if I need more brute power Crossfiring them gives impressive results, matching the 5850 and sometimes bettering the 5870!
