Advice before buying 3GS

Evening all, im just curious to know something before i consider buying an iphone. I currently have a nokia n97 the contract does not run out for another 18 months but i would like to buy an iphone and use my current sim card with it, is this possible? im with orange at the mo but dont wanna get a pay as u go tarif i just want the phone with my sim card.

Is this possible? if so would i still get my free minutes and internet allowence that i currently recieve with my n97 contract

Yes this will work. Just buy the iPhone from orange on pay as u go and put your existing sim card in. You will still have all your monthly allowances as they are tied to your sim card. As for the pay as u go sim card that comes with the phone, you can just discard it or not use it at all.

O right cool, i just rang up orange and my current contract dont finish til september next year, they said i could pay my contract up which is just over £400 and then take out an iphone 3gs contract £45 a month, would that be the better option? deffo gonna wait til the new iphone comes out i dont want it but i might be able to get a cheaper tariff then for the 3gs and still get the phone free. Been looking how much i can get for my n97 most sites are willing to give me about £120 so i guess that would help a bit.

Wait for the new iPhone to come out. Chances are the new iPhone will be priced at what the 3GS is now and the 3GS will likely drop in price. Not long to wait, announcement of the new iPhone is supposed to be 7th June.

Yeah, i think a safe-ish guideline could be the way prices are now with the 3G and 3GS.

3GS takes 3G place in pricing
iPhone 4 takes place of 3GS in pricing

My O2 PAYG sim card came with a years free internet access (would've cost me £7.50 x 12) - may be worth checking if the Orange one comes with anything before discarding it.

new iphones are usually released around 2 weeks after they are announced. At the moment its looking to be around mid June.
