Advice for 75" 4k TV

I've had a OLED G6 but could never get on with it. Picture wise it was ok.
I then went to a 75" Sony full FALD and the picture was great but was let down by media-tech android.
I settled with a QLED 78" KS9500 full FALD and it has the best picture of the lot.

And you will find that most 4K blu rays will be in HDR and not DV.
yeah with you on that one , OLED has plenty enough of its own problems

A KS9500 doesn't have a "QLED" screen

It's Quantum Dot....

KS9500 is a great screen, brilliant HDR.

Still prefer OLED though.

Yes, but Samsungs definition of "QLED" is the 2017 sets.

KS9500 has Quantum Dot, but is classed by Samsung as SUHD

It's all marketing anyway. They just want it to sound like OLED. Same as Hisense and their 'ULED' screens

The "SUHD" stands for Supreme UHD(Dimming) because it's a FALD TV. "Quantum Dot Display Yes" from the site :)

They are hoping people are too stupid to differentiate between them or mix them up.

An O looks very muck like a Q. e.g. OQOQ

Same goes for a U. e.g. OUOU it's just missing the top bit.

OLED
QLED
ULED

it's easy to see how people would get fooled into buying a non OLED thinking they are buying the same thing.

As far as I'm aware only Despicable Me 1/2/3 are DV content that defaults to HDR in absence of the ghardware, rest are HDR10. Personally although DV is cracking by the sounds of it, with hardly any tech taking any notice of it... and source probably not including it as default (unlike HDR), makes you think how important it's going to be over the next 12-18 months:?

Dolby Vision is supposed to be on a TV with 1000 nits. I don't think there is one out yet(I could be wrong).
I think HLG will be used for UK TV. But then there is "Advanced HDR by Technicolor" in Europe. Take your pick :)

Which OLED\QLED tv have you got dude?

I'm a huge advocate of the KS range, I personally have a 55" KS7000 and its fantastic. There are some issues with OLED, say with clipping on HDR content. The LG OLEDs did have lag issues but I believe that's been resolved now (US had a firmware update to address it, Europe was waiting for it last time I heard)...

A big part of recommending the KS range though is price, it's is insanely good value where I think OLED still need another year until it's really worth that kind of outlay. At the moment the Samsung KS vs an LG OLED trade blows, each have positives. OLED will eventually win out though. The current OLEDs are fantastic but as a new consumer tech it's no where near maturity so each year will bring gains which could tempt an upgrade.

Samsungs QLED range is a bit of a con, it's not proper Quantum Dot.. They're still fundermentally LCD panels.

It's a difficult time at the moment, spending £3k on a TV... All the improvements that are coming with new formats, also the HDMI spec in 2.1... You really want to wait until end of 2018 if you're spending that kind of money... Its personally what I'm doing, will likely make the move to OLED early 2019, providing the improvements expected materlise.

I'd advise waiting a year and instead spending 1k on a decent 55"... If you absolutely feel the need to spend £3k, go for OLED. You may aswell with that budget.

Ahh 3k for a 65 inch panel is a rip off. OLED/FALD/ whatever.. 3k is a load of cash for a 65inch panel and not worth it. Those saying go for a 65'' OLED vs a 75'' behemoeth obviously haven't seen big screens. Diminishing returns kicks in when they high end 65 inch FALDS start hitting home (this year the 65 inch 902b at £1800).

I love people big upprojectors despite their poor ass IQ in any ambient light yet hate on a huge LCD panel.

PJs are poor value at present as they're holding back 4k.
OLEDs above 55 inches are just so overpriced.
FALDs in general are overpriced too tho.

If you're a pixel peeper, OLED.
If you want that cinematic experience, big screen.

As he has a 3k budget he has a good choice of PJ's and he has a dedicated room. A Sony HW45ES + decent screen will look very good but yes he may need to close the curtains for the best quality, not really much of a hassle ;)

When I was in the market for a TV last year. It had to be 43" max. OLED is 55" minimum. So I couldn't buy an OLED. I went with LG UH750V it fitted my needs perfectly and is a great set.

I have a 50" Panasonic GT50 in the bedroom and 55" Sony in the games room. I'm not in the market for a TV until they die tbh. OLED still too expensive. If they come down to < £1k for a 55" is when I'll buy.

Plasma still got a lot of life left. It's a dream to use and the next best thing to OLED.

Some good ones there. I've had all the top premium 4K brands and I was least impressed with the OLED for 4K
