Advice for SATA 3 controller card

Hi,

I've purchased the following:

Along with an MX100 Crucial SSD.

The SSD will only be used as an additional drive for games, I already have a smaller SSD for the OS.


My motherboard is the P6T SE, which has SATA 2 and 3 PCIe 16x slots - 2 at 16x and 1 at 4x.

My problem is where to fit the PCIe card, I need to use the card as I don't have any more SATA slots on the motherboard.

I'm not sure I can fit the PCIe card in the 2nd PCIe 16x slot as I have a GTX670 in the first slot which takes up a lot of space. Even if I could fit it in then it will probably block the fan on the 670 - not advisable I guess!

So will it make any material difference in terms of performance to simply fit the PCIe card in the x4 slot?

Alternatively I can move a storage drive from the motherboard SATA 2 connections to the PCIe card (in the 4x slot) and put the new SSD on SATA 2.

Essentially my question is:
Which is the better option?

Ok that wasn't the expected answer, I thought the SATA3 would be the option, but thank you.
 
Honestly you are going to struggle and generally will not get the stated performance out of an SSD. 3rd party SATA3 cards tend to be awful, they normally use the Marvell chipset which is dog slow. I really do not know why Intel didn't stick an Intel SATA3 controller chip from Z87/Z97 onto a PCIe controller. They would have made a load of cash if it was the right price.

See if you can get yourself one of these: http://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/U3S6/ They are a true SATA3 controller with added bonus of USB3. Utilises 4xPCIe so no problems with bandwidth.
