i have the chance to upgrade from my 450d. i was looking at a 50d but the prices and availability of 40d cant be ignored.

i shoot a lot of wildlife and usually i end up cropping my pictures as i dont have a lens in the 400mm/500mm range yet.
im worried that moving from 12.2mp (my 450d) to 10.5mp (40d) will affect how effective cropping will be. is this something i should be worried about?

the seemingly minor differences between a 40d and a 50d steer me towards a 40d. if i can eliminate the cropping niggle in my mind i think i would be better to go for a 40d. this camera is going to have to see me right for a good few years so i dont want to make the wrong decision!

any advice greatly appreciated.

for an extreme crop thats pretty impressive - certainly on a par with my 450d if not better. i dont ususally crop that much.
