Hi all

I'm in the market for some new running shoes. I currently have Asics Gel-3030s. I've been looking at the Asics Gel-Forte and Gel-Foundation shoes, but I've no idea which pair to go with. Has anyone got any advice which I should go with?

Many thanks

There is a sports forum. Recommend you post there. Most of us GD peeps are mouth breathing neckbeards.

Go to your local running shop and try them on and use them on their treadmill etc, thats what I did and ended up with a nice pair of Brooks from The Sweatshop.

I tried on around 6 pairs and ended up with the Brooks based on running gait / ankle roll etc, my next few pairs will be from The Sweatshop.

I've already had a foot assessment at Start Fitness so I know exactly what shoe I'm after (always been an Asics) but the confusion has come about because of these two models. It seems that the Foundation is the one to go for. It's see than the Forte but apparently a better shoe.

Read reviews on each shoe if you can find any and base it on that. Otherwise if you've had your gait checked already and both shoes are suitable then I'd choose whichever feels more comfortable.

Kayano 19s or 20s :)

It's different for everyone though, so find something that sounds as though it might suit your style.

Try a few on at your local running shop.

If you have the cash, I would now go and buy a few pairs. I bought one great fitting pair, then when trying to replace them 2 years later the same model existed but had been "improved" i.e. didn't work for me anymore. wish I'd bought several pairs when they were around and just had a stock in teh house for when they need replacing.

Great- assuming both shoes are correct for your running gait then, the one to go for is as simple as the one that is more comfortable :)

Also, be aware of what GSVBagpuss said. The 'new improved' model is often different to the old one. It's the bain of many runners' lives when you come to replacement time :(
