ok chaps a little advice, tempred by the record low memory prices i am into adding some extra ram into my pc. I currenly have 2 gigs of crucial D9GMH @ 1030 mhz 4-4-4-10 which is more than satisfactory and i was thinking into buying another 2 or 1 gig of the same mem. But since i am using 32bit good ol xp 4 gigs of ram will do nothing to it unless i get 64bit OS (that would propbably be vista) but i am into it anytime soon , probably in a year and a half. Buying though 1 gig of ram will be fully available under XP , cost me a few quid less but i think it is not a futureproof buy since in the future i will install 64bit
OS.

so what do you think go for the 4 gigs or just buy another gig of ram and save the extra quid for saturdays night out? i say it again i will be using 32bit software for at least a year and a half.thanx in advance

I tell you what I think, I think you should get another 2GB and get Vista, whilst the mem is cheap. I am still on XP 32bit though, old CPU :)

So when you said you wouldn't be going to a 64 bit OS for another year or so, its because your CPU is only a 32 bit CPU?

no my cpu is 64bit capable , but the software i use isnt and imho 64bit vista is still not ready to fully replace my current setup.

cause i had a go with it and it didnt run some chemistry progs i use for my work and i believe i shouldnt buy a software that is still so new to the market. i shall wait SP1

Well if thats the case your probably best doing what squiffy said, in a year and a half you will probably have bought a new rig anyway with DDR3 mem ;)
