advice-my computer seems to have broke itself

I tried a system restore and it says it failed in normal boot up. But in safe mode restore was successful. Everything seems to work fine in safe mode yet freezes in normal boot
 
a little update, I can use my computer for browsing the internet, I can access all my files/photos.
However I cant open up any programs as it will just become completely un-responsive, i can still move the mouse but that is all.

would you say that this is my computer just being old and in need of new components?
 
I don't know how long you're OS has been installed, but it might pay you to do a fresh install. And don't forget to backup any file/folders and software you want to keep.
