Hi

I am after some advice for optical sound output from a PlayStation 3 or X360 via Optical. I am organising a few LAN's this year and there will be a few FIFA and Rock Band Tournaments. It was my intetion to put a new soundcard in one of the pc's and have the sound from the console going through the optical in on the sound card.

I am thinking of one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-052-CL&groupid=701&catid=11&subcat=

Does anyone have any experience of this and what, if any, problems does this pose.

What will you play it through from there?

It may be easier to see if someone can loan you/bring something with an optical input already available - might be easier and overall louder (never a bad thing :p)

Otherwise the soundcard will be fine :)

Visually it will be through an 32" LCD or Projector. I already run it through my home cinema system at home but Mrs L will make sure that the Home Cinema System stays exactley where it is !! :p

Im thinking that a reasonable sound card and some pretty powerfull speakers will be adequate for whats needed

Get your hands on some Z5500's (or someone who has) and use those :)

Having just got back from a LAN where the projector was the speaker I have to say it was woeful at best :p
