Advice Needed - Learning

I remember the frustration of my CBT having the instructor telling me to stop being nervous and to speed up. I'm shouting angrily (although he couldn't hear me) that I had the throttle wide open but the 125 would barely move!!!

Lol, the 125s they supply are terrible

I can vouch for the Varadero -its an ace bike! Been using it most weekends of late as I commute about 60 miles from base to home - its very happy sitting at about 65-70 where permitted ofcourse :)

And yes, overtaking is great fun on it!

I have a CBR125 Repsol (57 plate) and It's fantastic, got it for 800 quid (it had a knackered exhaust/downpipe which cost around 200 to replace) still an awesome bike, if your over 6ft I dont think its for you, Its much slimmer than the YZR but at the same time puts out about the same amount of power, I've put a few small mods on mine (bore kit e.t.c) so its abit quicker than the Yammy, still a great bike though, however you will pay more for the yammy 1800/2200. Still, both fantastic bikes, mine puts out at about 86/88 MPH on a really good day =P

I've got the YZFr 125 and it's an awesome little bike, it's not massive but you shouldn't look too silly on it, it's bigger than an R6.

Gets up to about 75/80 indicated but really thats about 70 i think.

Fuel economy is decent, not as good as a CG or YBR but i put in about 15-20 quid a month and i use it almost every day to get to and from work, my old car cost me about 90/100 a month for the same use.

The only downside is that it's more expensive then other bikes, and if you drop it the fairings are not at all cheap.

But they are definately worth the money and have just about enough poke to keep them fun, while i know i would have been bored of the CG i did my CBT on very quickly, and people who just glance at it think it's an R6, well until open the throttle that is. :D

It's a lovely bike. If I could only ever ride a 125 then I'd get one of those in a heartbeat. It still amazes me that it's bigger than an R6.

The speedo overread on my 125 too. My record on my YBR125 was an indicated 78, but I was still being overtaken by most people on the dual carriageway. I think it was more like 70.

I've been doing 30 miles a day on my 125, which is in rush hour so I've not "needed" a bigger bike but it's topped at around 60mph that I always seem to be hitting.. I've been riding a few months and I'd be happier on something like a 400, not superfast but not a 125.
It all depends how confident you are, there's a few times I've been going too fast and nearly crashed into the back of someone or come off on a corner (but that's me being an idiot). If you ride sensibly and within the speed limits you'll be fine. :p

The main reason I upgraded as the 125 was useless on a dual carriageway, I hated the fact that you were stuck in the slow lane with the lorries. Just didn't feel safe at all!
