Advice needed on CPU upgrade

Hey there,

I bought this current PC from the website about a year and a half ago and I feel I would like to upgrade the CPU as it is starting to not meet the minimum specifications of new games that are coming out and is bottlenecking the GPU.

The specs are as follows:

2.90 gigahertz AMD Athlon II X2 245
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)
Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. M61PME-S2P
4096 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
400W Corsair Power Supply

I really don't have any ideas how to go about thinking which upgrade would be good so I'm here to ask help if anyone could suggest something? I think the motherboard allows up to 95W. Would I be looking at some sort of Athlon II X4 series?

Thanks a lot for any replies, much appreciated

Below are the specs/tech for your motherboard - and the respective revisions (check you MB for revision). Click on the 'CPU Support' link for the info on chips supported:

Rev 1.0

Rev 1.3

OK, for some reason the links wont copy fully.

In www.google.co.uk type in the following - M61PME-S2P - or just click this

The first two links you should be presented with are for rev 1.3 and the 1.0.

Once selected/loaded up click on the 'CPU Support' link at the top of each page for each revison.
