Advice needed on new phone

since the first update my x10 has never ran out within 24 hours and i use it a lot for mp3. it pretty much double the life tbh

but yes this is what happens when you put such powerful stuff inside phones. this is why i think its silly that faster processors keep coming , especially when theres nothing on android that really even needs them

another massive problem is operators such as vodafone/orange/o2 branding the phones and not giving them the newer firmware updates when they come out. some of those updates are pretty important

I'm 90% sure that I'm going for the 9700. Will probably head around a local phone shop to play around with it for a bit. Been hearing good things about the battery life on it too.

Superb phone with even better battery life...its not fancy like Android or the iphone but does what it says on the tin without minimum of fuss. Just dont expect it to have a great web browser because in all honesty it doesnt but for the odd web browse its ok...i have no issues with my 9700 which ive had since last Nov when it was released.

If you can wait a bit longer then hold out for the upgraded version of the 9700 the 9780 which will have 512mb of RAM and a 5mp camera compared to the 3.2mp camera and 256mb of RAM that the 9700 has.

yeah blackberry seem to have a great battery life, my sister has a curve ( the one with the scroll wheel)

only thing that annoys me is the internet..the screen is a bit on the small side.

Ok, I ordered it. Had a play on one this morning and like what I saw. As Spawn said, as web browser it aint great but it's adequate. At most I'd check emails, read Wikipedia or check one or two airline websites for tickets. The rest of my internet stuff would be done at home or in the office. Importantly, I was also assured by the sales clerk that battery life would be better than my X10 was. A lot better.

If you're up for the challenge: Upgrade an iPhone battery yourself.. Was pretty easy for me. Suction cup the screen/digitiser etc off. And you're left with a few screws to untighten and the battery just sits on a contact. You can buy bigger mAh batteries from ebay. Or if you don't like ebay, modelling shops etc are a good choice.

I replaced mine for £22, it was a 3g, from 2400mah to 3800 I think. Meant that I could use it to torrent and watch movies to and from work.. (2 hours each way) and still have 50% for general use. Obviously.. that's far more strain that you'll put on it.

Youtube iphone battery replacement and it's a step by step process.

X10 could have been awarded a world record for how fast it would discharge the battery tbh. The 9700 is a good choice and if you don't like the built in browser you can get opera for it.

Also, sorry to dispell you lovely Myth Robbo but the jesus phones battery while good - is pretty much just as good as the rest. Every phone is highly dependant on it's users wishes - if you want updates on twitter every 2 minutes you pay for it in battery. I'd wager that the radio signal is a bigger issue (3G/2G current use, how far from the mast) at the moment. There's nothing special in the way that iOS sleeps or android for that matter, it's a fairly standard affair.

If you really want to talk battery life then the masters of the game are the oldest in the game - Symbian.
