advice needed please

hey guys,
i have just build my own desktop i5 750, ga-p55m-ud2 motherboard and a WD Caviar black (wd1001fals) the hdd seems a little sluggish so i ran hdtach, these are my readings.....

burst speed 2707.3 mb/s
random access - 12.5 ms
cpu utilization - 1%
Average read 89.2 mb/s

here are the readings in hdtune (just for comparison)

burst rate -99.8 mb/sec
random access 13.0
min transfer 36.9mb/s
max transfer 108.2 mb/s
av transfer 82 mb/s


what i wondered is why the burst rates differ so much! do the other readings seem right?

The burst readings are high becasue there's some caching from RAM going on.

Other readings look about right.

If sluggishness is a concern, look into picking up an SSD for the OS and your favorite apps.
