Advice needed premier inn damage in room!

What was in the water? It was just clean water right? The idea that a bit of clean water creates a smell is completely bizarre. If it made a smell it would have been because of what was in the carpet already, and as such you are paying to rectify a problem with the room that you didn't cause.

The idea that it costs £500 to remedy a problem with 2 square feet of carpet is absolutely preposterous. It was a Premier Inn, not the Ritz.

My advice would be pay nothing until you have seen a copy of the invoice for the work carried out.

Only the OP can be truthful with himself and know the true level of the damage caused.

I have no reason to lie at all!

The water was clean! No bubble bath or anything!

I am actualy back In London for the next 4 days so when they give me the reciept I will go and inspect the room!

I'd argue that is was their responsibility to ensure that the overflow system on the bath was sufficient to prevent water overflowing into the bathroom / bedroom.

Their failure to do so put your safety at risk.

Tell them to forget about the charges and you'll not take the matter any further.

Best of luck :)

Not a bad first post that, agree with this man!

Carpets in hotels do tend to smell when wet. It is partially due to inordinate amounts of beer and failure to adequately point percy at the porcelain as well as various mould spores acquired over time from water etc. dripping on the carpet.

If only about 2ft square was wet in the bedroom, it is a fair bet more went under and may have wet a good part of the floor or gone into the floor. The bathroom floor would have been flooded.

If its just carpet damage they are taking out of you then tell them they are having a laugh and hang up everytime they call.

This is my guess. The whole place is probably ruined and skanky as hell, and the OP is being ridden for a sparkly new carpet as if it was immaculate when he walked through the door.

I would offer a contribution but nothing like £500.

I don’t buy all this tiny overflow from a bath story. OP really should tell us about the wild romp with all those sex starved groupies on the waterbed after they finished filming. It was how the waterbed sprung a leak. Five hundred squid is a small price to pay for fixing a waterbed puncture. :p

Baths have an overflow, if the overflow is defective or the taps deliver too much water for the overflow to cope then that is not your problem.

Tell them to sort their plumbing out.

The majority of the cost would be accumulated from their "loss of earnings" from not been able to rent the room during the week. Standard B.S. on their part really.

Complain that the overflow drainage system that is fitted on the bath was not 'fit for purpose' as it did not function as designed. Premier inns have a 'pumped water supply system' to the rooms which makes the pressure from the taps higher than the overflow system is designed for. Premier inn need to review the plumbing and associated systems in all it's hotels to stop this from repeatedly happening.

I stayed in Premier Inns every week for seven years and i have heard people at reception saying that the bath has overflowed lots of times so this is a regular occurrence. A couple of the lads who i was working with did it themselves but, as they are tradesmen, complained straight away that the overflow on the bath wasn't good enough. The hotel would then appologise and not send out a bill for 500 smackers.

Tell them to shove it were the sun don't shine.
