guys, i think I have found my headunit on ebay, what do I do? it has the markings around it, that are the same as in my car. I need a bigger pic though to be sure...

Report it to ebay.

or call the police, although if you didn't call when it was stolen they're unlikely to believe you.

I have the crime reference number and everything, they know it's been stolen.

TBH this'd be a lot better off in GD where you'll get more views, I mean it's not specifically motors either, you just found a stolen item on ebay.

Report it to the Police...

It's frustrating, but hopefully they will do something about it.

Whatever you do, don't contact the seller directly accusing him of stealing or having your stereo. If you are pretty sure it is yours then call the police who will deal with it from there on. I wouldn't bother contacting ebay yet, the police will do that if they have grounds to believe it is yours.

maybe pretend to buy and get an address for personal collection

depending on how hard your feeling thats proberbly going to be the best way to get results.... but its damn risky - the best bet is to talk to the police station you reported the theft to

Buy it, every Ebay sellers address is listed once you've won an item of theirs. Supply the police with the address and go round with them to arrest them and they'll want you with them so you can identify the goods. Or just go round and give them a good hiding

id be wary the scuppers muck up and spook the theiving ***** off ebay before any useful details are gotten

On the flipside, someone might have been offered the headunit at a very cheap price, and bought it with the intention of making a bit of money on ebay.

Handling stolen goods, still an offence.

Id setup a new account, win the auction, get the address and then contact the police.

Can you not find the sellers address just by doing a search as long as your a member with more than 10 feedback?

Great idea, they end up with your address as well unless you use a fake account :)

if its the same one I think it is, look at the past auctions - theres an awful lot of "no box, manual or charger" isn't there? ;)

The person selling what could be your head unit is almost definitely selling other stolen stuff IMO. They might have just dropped themselves right in it. I would call the police for sure.
