advice needed... quick

The problem is he'll just get a slap on the wrist, and a free holiday. If it were me, I'd set up a fake account, get his address and pay him a visit with a few mates.

Yes, I know that's a bit 'keyboard warrior', but it's honestly what I'd do. How often does the chance to catch a thief like this come up?

The ******* scum needs to be taught a lesson, and this seems like the ideal opportunity...........
Yes, that does sound keyboard warrior-ish, but it's the only way.

I contacted the buyer. She replied telling me that he told her the headunit had already been sold by his "friend" rollocks!!!
The police however did manage to get his address from his ebay account.. and I have it too... hmmmm :D

What's the next step? Have the police arranged a visit?

Go round and kick some ass. **** the police. :p

You really should wait for the police to do something :o

I think it would be a bad idea to go and do anything now you have got the police involved.

Scum like that need teaching a lesson

ay - best served cold and all that :)

but then you have to be sure its the bloke, not just a mate whos selling the stuff on for him....

if it's a friend selling the stuff for him, I shall have his ass royaly caned until he tells me who is the person responsible ! :D

/keyboard warrior mode off

waiting for the police to call me and give me advise :) The police have been very good in this i have to say

Good work, its nice to catch someone out like this, ebay should be held responsible for aiding in selling stolen goods tbh, its and easy place for ppl to make a living and get shot of them.

Whenever i look for car audio stuff on e-bay i see loads of avic-x1r's screen only etc, just cause it too hard for them to hunt down and nick the main control unit!

Agreed. Although it's practically impossible for them to check everything sold isn't stolen it should be their responsibility. IMO things like car stereos should be banned from eBay, it's pretty much the only way to stop it.

Banned unless boxed i suppose :)

I don't think there should be a blanket ban on car stereos, but I do think that they should ban them from being sold without box, manual and all accessories. Infact, I think the MM should also allow them to be sold like that.

Yeah that would be ideal, but harder to enforce i guess.

impossible to inforce - you should have to enter the serial number on commonly stolen items however - that way they can compare against police databases! But as long as ebay can take huge cut of the profit without comeback their not exactly going to get off their butts and stop it

Without doubt, pre e-bay days if you nicked something you sold it off cheap / your dealer man who gave you next to nothing, i suppose now with e-bay your getting good prices for items so people have more incentive to steal things :(

Nice work, I hope it all gets sorted out for you.

I think I've found the seller and I'm pretty sure one of the other ebay users you can see in his feedback is his 'business partner'.

Looks like a ***** from his purchases...
