Right , i've just got my 5870 back from RMA and i have a 780i motherboard (Asus P5N-T deluxe) and its an absolute nightmare of a board and awful for overclocking and i think for my system right now i need to clock the Q6600 to at least 3.2 ghrz to see some good results from my 5870 so :

I also needed to buy a backplate so i was thinking it would be worth getting a P45 board such as https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-172-GI

its not a load of money to spend on a board and i dont want to spend more than that , but i thought that would be sufficient to keep me going with decent clocks on my memory and cpu so my system is good for another year (i really hate this motherboard i have atm). I know im keeping to 775 tech but its not a massive amount to spend and im still on nforce chip :(

P.S just got a new monitor , the 5870 , new case and psu so dont have enough to upgrade fully to new sockets plus i dont think its worth it if i can clock my memory and cpu to 3.2+ and 1066 .

Last thing this is a completely miscellaneous question but what piece of hardware does a back plate come with , is it the cpu/heatsink or mobo ? Quick responses are appreciated as i wana get this ordered so i can build the comp tommorow! thanks!

Maybe I'm getting this wrong but, you don't have to buy a new mobo for a backplate.

nah im not doing it for the backplate ( i know u can buy them seperate ) , i want a better mobo for overclocking cpu and ram , i also hate the mobo i got atm

Personally I wouldn't be buying anything socket 775 atm. But if necessary check out some reviews before you part with your cash, just to make sure it is what you're looking for.

A backplate normally comes with the Heatsink. As far as the board is concerned there is loads of information about it over at xtremesystems forums just search for EP45.
