Advice needed with memory selection

Hi all. I have a 7950x and was thinking upgarading the memory to DDR5. I was trying to find the fastest memory available but it's really confusing.

Can someone tell me what's the fastest memory available with 2x32GB that one can buy with EXPO profile?

Also, will I see any benefits of moving to the new chipset platform in terms of speed? This is for a PC that I use for editing RAW files and will start doing video 4K 422 10bit.

To finish, is it worth to move to the new AMD processor for editing, etc? TA

What do you mean upgrade it to DDR5?

Currently I have a memory that is 2x32GB at 5600MHz, and I would like to upgrade to a faster one. I have seen these 8000MHz but can't find 2x32GB. So ideally I would like to upgrade to a kit 2x32GB at 8000MHz and lowest latency possible. I want to start optimising the PC. I have an X670 AORUS ELITE AX and apparently it supports 8000MHz memories.

By the way, in the MB spec they have: DDR5 8000(OC) - what does OC means in here?

TA

DDR5 8000(OC)
OC means overclock, and in here indicates that the motherboard does have some 8000 memory in its QVL, but its not guaranteed to always work.
8000 EXPO is just starting to come out and I have no seen any 2x32GB kits. Best bet is 2x24GB

Anything above AM5 standard memory speed rating is oc which makes expo memory overclocking.
There is diminishing returns in faster speed performance due to higher latency and CPU memory ratio moving from 1:1 at 6000mhz to 2:1 causing latency above that.

Going from 6000mhz to 72000mhz can gain about 7% in certain applications but above that it's minimal.

So really depends if you think it's worth the cost

Thank you for your replies. Micky, what if I move from 5600MHZ to 7200MHZ? So maybe it's vest to wait for the new motherboards I guess?

I wouldn’t expect trying to run 7200 MT/s RAM on AMD being a) fun or b) that much faster than RAM at 6400 MT/s.

Even 6000 MT/s RAM with tight timings is not that far behind 6400 MT/s - the returns are diminishing for the cost but that’s up to you.

If you’re desperate for faster RAM, I’d suggest you consider a 48gig kit of 6400 MT/s with Hynix M die chips - Hynix M die is easier to run than a regular 32gig RAM kit so you’re more likely to be able to take advantage of the increased performance.

You’re never running 8000 MT/s RAM unless you know exactly what you’re doing with RAM overclocking and have a great motherboard and amazing IMC on your processor.

New boards are already out, but won't have to much much bearing on faster

Timmings can make small difference so getting tighter timmings will negate some of the difference.

You can get CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 AMD EXPO for £190 certainly worth considering.

If you're unsure do a bit more research before you decide

Yeah I’d probably go with something like that Corsair kit that Mickyflinn has suggested as it’ll still be plenty fast and it’s not that much more than a midrange kit.

OP, also keep in mind that a 64gig kit at 6000 MT/s is going to be faster than a 32gig kit of the same speed just because of the increased RAM density (yes, I’m simplifying because it’s complicated).

You could also consider a 96gig kit depending on how much RAM you are using but I’d imagine 64gigs would be enough.

Also also, do not go with a 4 DIMM solution - keep it 2 DIMM.

I wouldn't bother if I wasn't upgrading the capacity.

No.

From what? The 7950X? If it uses AVX512, yes. If not, likely not, though I suppose it depends how much time is money for you.

Hi All . Help please . I have a Asus maximus xi hero ( mb ) with an i9 9900k and a Asus rtx 3080 tuf. I want 2x26gb ( 32gb) ram, i am really struggling to find the the correct ram for this set up. I am looking for corsair if possible, but open to what wisdoms anyone has . Thanks in advance

Thank you all. So probably will just hold a bit longer with what I have and maybe upgrade the graphic card instead.
