Hey folks so basically im looking into purchasing a Aorus B550 Elite for my new CPU when they release and it has 2 M.2 Slots I've just managed to get another 960 EVO 500gb for 60 quid because the prices for a 1TB PCI-E 4.0 drive are above my budget my question is do I run the 2 drives in Raid 0 to get PCI-E 4.0 speeds and for the 2 drives to be showned as one also I was thinking about running 2 1TB WD blue HD's I have in Raid 1 for the stuff I can't afford to lose I.e Pictures/Videos etc?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I believe the general consensus is RAID anything for PCIe M.2 drives isn't worth it because the storage is fast enough already.

Obviously there are always exceptions such as some unique use case or combining drives into a single larger one, but personally I wouldn't set out to make a 2TB Raid0 drive out of 2x1TB M.2 drives.

I've run 2 SATA3 SSDs on Raid0 for years without issue but obviously they were smaller capacity and a much slower interface speed.

I'm in a similar boat myself this time around because I over ordered the new 1TB 980 Pro and actually have 2 drives but I'll probably return one of them as I already have a 2TB (but not as fast) M.2 for my 2nd drive i.e. I don't think raid0 980 Pro is going to be very practical sure it will be fast but that's a £450 2TB drive array that I doubt I'll even notice the speed difference. Keen to here other opinions though.....
