Hello

I'm looking to build a home office PC for around £300-£350. No HDD or ODD required (already have these from the old machine) but looking to add an SSD to the mix this time. It will be used for browsing the web, word, excel and some occasional media encoding but needs to be fast and snappy. ;)

I've chosen the AMD FX 6300 as it seems to be the best CPU in this price range (no issues with switching to Intel if there are suggestions which fit into this budget).

The specs I've come up with:
AMD FX 6300 Black Edition 6 Core AM3+
Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard
Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C11 XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL11
Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670 Graphics Card
Coolermaster CM Force 500
Corsair Builder Series CX 430 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze PSU
Kingston Technology 60GB Solid State Drive V300

The total is £380 here which is a tiny bit over budget so if there's somewhere I could knock off £30/40 that would be great but I'd rather not sacrifice anything crucial.

Thanks - and feel free to ask any questions.

For home/office stuff you could just get an APU for less money (it'd include the GPU), but you'd get better performance from the 6300 for encoding. The 6670 is a gaming card - for desktop stuff you could just get a £20 basic one, or get something 2nd hand for £10.

Something like a GTX 460, actually you'd need a little more power I think for that card.

I expect that PSU would be ok for a 6850 or something a little lower, but better check what amps the card your looking at needs.
