and if that's the mobo I'm thinking of, you madre a mistake there as well.

this is why you post before you buy

PC6400 is the best speed for the Q6600 because if you overclock it to 3.6Ghz you can run the RAM and FSB at 1:1.

P5K-E is the best board of that bunch. Very solid mobo.

Can anyone recommend a good gaming case, was thinking about the xclio windtunnel or propeller?

i really dont understand the whole thing about buying slower ram which is better? should i go for what i have listed or 6400

last one i promise what about the

MSI P35 Neo2-FR

compared to the last lot?

Probably a bit cheaper, and a good board. Not sure which one will be best for Quad cores.

I'd suggest the Asus will be better from an 'Auto' overclocking point of view, but the MSI will be fine it you set voltages.

Looking like a nice system ;) Best of luck.

ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP AiLifestyle Series P35 Socket 775 Socket eSATA 8 channel Audio ATX Motherboard

or

ASUS P5K PRO iP35 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard

ddr2/ddr3 mobos dont tend to be that good

not to sound stupid. but what graphics card.

surely your old one was / is AGP and the new set up is PCI_E

I mentioned the asrock boardx initially becasue they are a very godo step up from old style to new> but if you are buying new memmory and new g>card(or have apci_e) then dont touch them
They are ok boards, but have virtually no overclocking capabilities
