So I have a dual core 6400 Intel atm

Therefore I want to buy a quad core.

Some q's.

1. I have seen some quad cores listed as 64bit does this mean I can only use win7. I have win7 and xp isntalled on my pc.

eg..''Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 64-bit CPU and fan''

2. Which Quad core should I buy...I just want to game prob games like BF3 at 1900x1080 prob at most.

I see 6600, 8400, 9505 etc..

3. Is 2nd hand ok. Will it last a few years. And no issues to overclock not that I plan major overclock.

4. I can install CPU myself easily?

ATM this is my system:

RAM:
2x1gb Ballistix tracer ram + 1gb = 3gb total.....May upgrade to 2x2gb ram=4gb

GFX:
5770 1gb gfx card.

PSU:
520w corsair power supply

What do you recommend I purchase?

cheers

1. no they will work in 32 bit operating systems but if your going to start upgrading your ram to above 4gb you might want to go 64bit

2. What is your budget? What motherboard do you have?

3. It will be fine

4. Have you done one before? If not you might want to read a couple of guides on how to do it. If your current cpu cooling is ok for your new cpu, your going to need some thermal interface material as a minimum. New cpu is essentially just drop it in and away it goes.

I think your going to have trouble running bf3 on a 5770 @ 1080p :/ so you might want to look at upgrading that too. You might get away with mid to low settings at a lower resolution however.

All depends what you want to spend/ if your wanting to stick with 775.
Have you checked your motherboard for what CPU's it supports (check makers website for info).
