Advice on Gaming Rig Build Please

Some Brilliant advice and comments here guys.
More head scratching, research and "hhmmmm"ing for me
All points taken aboard lads cheers ;)
I don't really want to wait though, I'm off for 2 weeks at Christmas which is unusual, I should be on night-shifts Christmas week.:(
That's why I'm soooooo looking forward to spending my time building and getting a system up and running, if at all possible :D

@[WU-TANG]GZA, Thanks I'm going to research your choice there

if you want too build something get a lego mechanics kit :D.

really doesnt make sense to spend the sort of money your looking too on a dead socket with a new release so close.

much of a pain as it will be not too do it at xmas :(.

I suppose you're right guys, 12 of you can't be wrong :p

Maybe I should wait and see how Sandybridge goes, maybe even for better bang per buck in January, despite the 8 year old in me saying I want it now :D

I was under the impression that Sandy Bridge was aimed at replacing the Socket 1156 cpu's, and the high end 1366 i7's would still be the top cpu's until Ivy Bridge launch in late 2011?

That's what I thought Invertigo, after all it was Paul Otellini, Intel's chief executive who said they were targeting low-end desktops and laptops with Sandybridge.

i3 and i5 sandbridge will come Q1 2011 and i7 Q3 2011

Basically SB is like Generation 2 of i3/i5 and i7

Ok Easyrider I don't think I can wait until Q3 2011 to get a system, will buy sooner, maybe wait until January or I might crack and press "Proceed to checkout" :D

If the £££ is no probs whatsoever then its always nice to have the top notch kit. But half the money of your budget £1250 is going to get you a top notch system that will handle anything you can throw at if for a long long time, a year i would say atleast. Then the other half will buy you a top spec system then with the latest gear.
Im just saying this as if its to be used as a gaming rig then I believe a valid point. Hell you could buy a £1250 system and spend a grand on a mini for field racing and a shotgun, grand theft auto cow style, for real.

It's only a few quid extra for VAT (CPU + MB), what would it be worst case, 8 quid more for both?

At least I will then have a CPU supporting one of the latest sockets, and with the K version should have a great overclock.
