Advice On GPU <£190

I have a XFX 4550 ATM and as anyone would ovvo say RUBBISH.

The board i currently have only has 1 x16 and 1 x8. So hacking to SLi on this board is out of the question. I decided not to crossfire so i am looking for 1 card thats well will last me a few years. i play games like:

• NFS Hot Pursuit
  NFS Undercover
  NFS Shift & Shift 2 (When Relesed)
  HAWX 1 & 2
  COD 4,WAW,BO
  All Tom Clancys Games for old to new
  

I read that there is a new 6800 series and was wondering if these are any good. I also have read about a new 6900 series but if these are competing against the new 580 i doult they will be in my price range.

I have seen a EVGA 6870 Superclocked on here for this price range. But i brought to many GPU have always found there not as good as they appear.

So if anyone has a card in this price range and would like to recommend it please do

Hi there, welcome to the forums

May I ask what PSU you are using?

Assuming the PSU can handle it, I would suggest going for either a HD 5850 or an ASUS GTX 460 1GB.

Also, you might want to change your sig, as you are meant to have 4 lines or less.

GTX 470 or the 6870 are going to be your choices really. From the benchmarks I've seen, they are both very similar performers, with the 470 pulling slightly ahead overall.

Hi and welcome to the forum. For £190, on this site, you are really looking at the 470GTX. I would find an xtra £15 and get this or pay over the odds for this. There are a couple of 470's in your budget but I would pay a wee bit more for the better cooling. Overclockers probably have the best prices for 470's. Sorry, HAD the best prices.

Hey thanks 4 the welcomes. Im running my system with the OCZ XXX Edition 650W. It has 52Amps on a single 12V rail what was perfect for my old XFX 9800gx2 iv looked at all the ideas given to me and i have found a EVGA GTX470

Its has a 10Year warranty also i have always loved EVGA.

But is my psu going to be able to run the gpu??

This 5870 is a steal at £180. Can't go wrong with that.

dooo itt i've put my palit gtx 460 2gb on ebay for one of those beauty's at that low price its such a steal or i might wait until 69** cards come out

A 6870 will be just over your price range but does everytging ypu need. Yiu could also get A 5870
