At long last I seem to be very near to a new PC.

The specs I've established thus far are:

Athlon II X3 445 (£54.96)
MSI 880GM-E41 (£48.71)
4GB XMS3 1600MHz (£38.23)

Totalling £141.90.

I have a budget of roughly £250, and could stretch to £260 with ease.

My problem is that I am unsure of the graphics card I should be looking at.

I game at a res of 1440x900, and am doubtful I'll be upgrading any time soon, and if I do doubt I'll go above a 22".

Based around prices, I can either get a 'gimped' GTX460 (768mb model), a decent Gigabyte OC2 GTS450, or a decent HD5770.

I've ruled out the HD5770 as it performs the worst by a considerable margin (only reason was included initially was because of CrossFire being more popular than SLI, but I am doubtful I would ever go down that route).

So, its a toss up between a OC GTS450 or the 'gimped' GTX460.

Looking to play most of COD series, UT3, TF2, L4D, L4D2, Fallout: New Vegas (and Elder Scrolls 5 - coming Q4 2011 :D :D) on high-ish quality at a stable fps.

Help me out? :p

Thanks

The HD5770 1GB is actually a much faster card than a GTS450 1GB:

Only when overclocked can a GTS450 1GB actually match an HD5770 1GB. OTH,an HD5770 1GB can be overclocked and would be faster than an overclocked GTS450.

However, the GTX460 768MB is the fastest of the three cards and would be the best choice as long as the OP has a decent PSU.

PSU is a 460W CM affair that came with my case (I sense some deja vu CAT :p)

Supposed to be pretty decent and supply up to around 420W iirc.

Gimped GTX460 it is then!

Hmmm, I can get a single slot HD5770 Vapor-X for £115, and can get a HD5770 for as low as £95.

Cheapest GTX460 I can get is a slightly OC model from Inno3D, which falls in at £116.41

Question is, what's the HD5770 like as an overclocker, and what kind of performance can one expect to see from an overclocked one?
