advice on new build?

Looks good, the case is your choice really but I agree with red zealot re CPU, if you are going to go quad then go for the 6600, it has dbl the cache as that one you picked, though at that priice you can get the E8400 which imo is better suited to over 99% of games

If you want to post baskets as before its basically just a screen print, join up with a website such as photobucket (its free) which allows you to host your pics, go to your basket and print screen, paste it into paint, crop and edit then save, then upload it onto the site which will give you the URL to post into forums

Thanx to all the replies, picked that case simply cause i liked the look of it!! think i will go with the E8400. be prepared for all the questions when the parts arrive and i attempt to put this all together!!

so this is what i'm hoping to put together.......

any final pointers before i take the plunge?? is it safe to assume that this will pretty much play any new games out there at the minute, and hopefully into the reasonable future??

Looks good, and yeh it will play games now and in the near future.

I would personally go for the Antec 300 case instead of the one you've chosen.

Cheers, point taken on the case and RAM, tho overclocking is someway off for me! I'll have enough bother just putting the whole thing together ;)

Righto, one last question, hopefully ;) Reading some conflicting views re the processor. Seems going quad core would make the system more "future proof" but core 2 duo is better for my purposes (primarily gaming) if i go for C2D any idea how long this system would be fine untill I'd need to look at moving to quad core, I take it that it's all dependant on the game developers? I'm really confused!

Ps hope I'm not boring everyone one with my incessant newbie questions!!

There's your answer mate. :)

Yeah no one can see into the future, several things can happen
A) tomorrow and from then on every game released is optimised for quad core
B) next to no games get released using quad core for several years
C) somewhere in the middle, a few do, some dont
Its a guessing game really, obviously C is more likely, though imo (and its only my opinion) B is a lot more likely than A, add to that you know that with most games out now a faster dual is better, hence why Id recomend dual personally

Cheers, pretty much confirms my own view, just wanted to hear from someone with more experience in this field than me! C2D it is then! Wish me luck!! And be prepared for more inane questions in the near future!!!! Hope I don't fry anything!!!!!

Think I'll stick with C2, and save my pennies with a view to upgrading at a later date, I assume my setup would accept a quad core at a later date with a few modifications?
