Hello all, I am new here and am just seeking a bit of advice from some friendly, helpful people.

Current System:

Mobo: Asus P5Q-PRO
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
RAM: x4 DDR2 800 1gb sticks
Graphics: Radeon HD 4870 1GB
HDDs: x2 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
PSU: 650w Corsair
Case: Antec Three Hundred
Screen: Samsung SyncMaster T220 @ 1680 x 1050

All stock speeds, no overclocking.

Looking for in new system:

-Support for SATA III

-Practical balance between performance and quietness

-Support to output good quality 96khz music through digital out.

As a photographer/videographer, I frequently edit photos with photoshop cs5 and edit pretty large files. Use premiere pro cs5 when editing video.
I game fairly often when I find time and would like to be able to play the latest titles on as high setting as possible without breaking the bank.
Games I play are TF2, Fallout new vegas, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 (soon hopefully if it gets released on steam and loses its dirty DRM BS).

Basically I would like a powerful system for editing photos/ video, gaming with minimal noise, and to obviously get the best bang for my buck.
I built my current system about 3-4 years ago and everything is getting a bit sluggish.
I am open to mobo and cpu bundles and separates also, however I have not fitted a cpu to a mobo before.

Please recommend me Mobo, cpu, ram, graphics and SSD around 120-180gb, as I will keep psu if possible.

I believe an i5 might suit me best, for my budget, please advice me if I'm wrong.

Budget: £500

Willing to overclock, though will be first time. Some advice on overclocking would be much appreciated.

Or any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x OcUK GeForce GTX 560Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £159.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £84.98
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5 SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT064M4SSD2) £61.99
1 x Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML8GX3M2A1600C9) £39.95
Total : £538.86 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Over budget. Small SSD and a budget Z77 mobo. But you do have the benefit of the i5 3570K. Gpu is a good mid range card. If you want to OC, you will have to buy a cooler, when finances permit.

Hey, thanks man for the fast response. That looks like a nice fast cpu. Mobo is a bit thin on slots though, specifically 6gb/s sata, I will need 3 to run my 2 WD HDDs and a new SSD at full speed. I may have a little extra budget I could spend to get a larger capacity SSD, if so what would you recommend around the 120gb mark? I also forgot to put that I would prefer digital coaxial over optical if possible.
What cooler would you recommend for the cpu? or does that all depend on how much I want to OC? How much could I OC that CPU, speaking reasonably.
