Advice on new system

Hi, I have a budget of around £12-1300.00p and thinking of an AMD system perhaps a Ryzen 5 2600x with an nvidia GTX card. I would also like to perhaps future proof this with a half decent motherboard. Also have a budget of around £250-300 for a 144hz Monitor as I'm assuming that I would need to get something like this to get decent graphics? I'm assuming I can re-use my Win10 key and also added a 500gb SSD to my existing system so can probably migrate this accross and avoid the need for an SSD, but perhaps add a Firecuda 2TB sshd? I have a decent psu on my system. Would it be cheaper to just upgrade or start afresh? I have been a gamer for many years and now retired. Mainly play single player so unsure how long these sort of games will be around. Any advice on either of these subjects would be much appreciated.

whats your current system ?

you could slap all this together and be £100 under total upgrade-monitor budget but without knowing PSU, might not work or were you could save - or not needing to upgrade core system etc

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,520.64 (includes shipping: £11.70)

monitor is freesync to match card, 1440p and 144hz :)
board comes with 480gb ssd free but as mentioned, you already have one

Hi, thanks for getting back to me so promptly. System is as follows Win 10 64-bit, i5-3570K [email protected], 16gb Ram and nvidia GTX 660. I have one 500gb SSD and a second one of 250gb, I believe there is also a 1tb HDD which isnt connected. How does the RX vega compare against the nvidia cards and also what about cooling? I believe the PSU is 650kw

Would just grab a second hand i7 chip and

Gtx 1070ti1080ti and 1440p G-sync screen with your budget

Well 1080ti haven't fallen in price , should be able to find 1440p G-sync screens a little cheaper else where maybe

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,327.68 (includes shipping: £11.70)

Or plus i7 secondhand

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,111.68 (includes shipping: £11.70)

Hi just looked inside the case I believe the mobo is a Asus MSQ P8Z77-VLX with 32gb of Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz ram. (Not sure if this is correct. modules say 2x4gb and there are 4 of them but system info says only 16gb?) PSU is a xigma tek TAURO Power force 80 Plus bronze. Any further recommendations appreciated, oh and thanks for your time

Seems it's was a good unit at the time - could have been better etc etc . Do you know what wattage ?

@EsaT maybe able to assist more, I swap PSUs after warranty or when units fall out of production etc

https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4759/xigmatek_tauro_700_watt_power_supply_review/index5.html

2x4GB on the sticks normally means they came as a pair. So your running two 2x4GB sticks for 16GB which is just fine for gaming currently . We now spec 16GB over 8 on here unless cash is short..

PSU is a xigma tek TAURO Power force 80 Plus bronze.
What particular model and has it had lots of daily power on hours?
(assume it's as old as your Sandy Bridge PC)

Haven't seen Xigmatek having high end PSUs.
Though neither bad.
Anyway that Tauro series is certainly low end positioned model with that medieval efficiency.
And seems to use different platforms for different power ratings.
400W is really standard low end PSU:
https://www.computerbase.de/2013-05/xigmatek-tauro-400-watt-netzteil-test/2/#abschnitt_technik
At least 700W model again uses rather curiously DC-DC design.
https://www.hardwaresecrets.com/xigmatek-tauro-700-w-power-supply-review/2/
Capacitors seem to be at best second tier Teapos with some crap category Jun Fus thrown in for good measure.

But at least it doesn't have much of stuff blocking airflow keeping capacitors cool, if fan just keeps some RPMs.
Unlike in some(especially fixed cable) PSUs with secondary capacitors buried under wire spaghetti.

Hi, Yeah thats what I was beginning to think. Maybe go the whole hog with the AMD/Ryzen combo above but with a suitable PSU, case and 2tb Firecuda. I know this will jack the price up but could we switch the monitor?
from an Optix MAG27CQ 27" 2560x1440 VA FREESYNC 144Hz 1ms Curved Widescreen Gaming Monitor
to Optix G27C2 27" 1920x1080 VA FREESYNC 144Hz 1ms Curved Widescreen Gaming Monitor
Not sure what the gaming experience differential would be like but may cover the changes

Would go 1440p 144hz .
Can find Acer or AOC for £350 but TN panel

Or 1080p Ultra wide 144hz. Something like 2500x1080p in 29" :D - of games you play support that format

Want to keeps costs down, formula 650w or 750w for little head from

Hi, What would you think of this system OcUK Tech Labs AMD Ryzen Midi Tower Gaming PC Configurator Aurus GA-AX370 gaming 7, AMD Ryzen 5-2600X, 16GB T Force mem, Radeon RX VEGA 56 Red Dragon 8gb (Couldnt configure 64 version?) 2TB Firecuda SSHD not sure on PSU but selected Cougar GX-S 650w Plus gold. Would add my 500gb SSD? this comes out at £1192 without monitor. Any advice greatly appreciated

Going 2600x still a side grade over current.
Would just slap in Vega 64 and monitor or 1080/2080 and monitor. Save up for Zen2/ 9th Gen 8 core start of next year :)

So do you think my current rig with the motherboard as is could support a Vega 64? And upgrade the monitor then maybe get a new mobo, processor etc.. next year?

Should handle it fine to be honest , some game spoke BF1/V will bring all your cores to 100% specially when online due to network coding , but since your CPU is still a good one and can be pushed nicely with OC, hold out till least you see 8core intel prices

Just double check PSU can handle as mentioned by Esat

Hi, been having a think on this system and feel I would like to start afresh.
Would love to get any ones views on the following.
AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Asus Prime B450-Plus ATX AM4, Team Vulcan 16gb DDR4-3000 mem, Firecuda 2tb hybrid, Powercolor Radeon RX Vega 64 8gb red devil, Corsair TXM Gold 650W Gold PSU and a Thermaltake View 22 Tempered glass Tower case. Then hopefully may have enough left for either an MSI Optix MAG27CQ or AOC AG271QX. Any info would be appreciated as I'm not that tech ok. Also both these monitors are 1440p would this be okay?

That to be built or built by yourself ?

In budget ??

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Psu is tier 1 and GPU is UK RMA , x370 stirz is better then B450 Prime

Was hoping to get it built. Would rather probably pay to have it done as probably not confident enough to do it myslf what with warranties etc.. Although did build one myself many, many years ago

Hi, I ended up getting the RX Vega 64 Red Devil card and a new monitor as suggested. The PSU is rated at 700w but although Win 10 boots after about 30 seconds the screen goes blank. I’m assuming it is a power issue. There are 2 x 8 pin connectors on the card and the power cable has only 2 x 6 pin connectors with 2 x 2 tails. I have connected all of these. Can anybody advise me if this is correct or do I need to get a new PSU?
