Hi all.

I am looking to buy new GPU for gaming (BF3, Skyrim and more) i am looking for 580 series card at the moment i have 750 watt PSU but will be upgrading to something more serious in near future. As i i will be getting second 580 in SLI then i get more money.

At the moment i was thinking to buy 580 Matrix but the price has gone from £389 to £439 in past weeks should have bought it then it was cheaper : ( So what other 580 could i get at the same performance level as Matrix or so with SLI in mind for future.

Budget is from £300 to £450 but £450 is pushing it really...

My motherboard is ( Fatal1ty Z68 )

I will be getting Asus GeForce GTX 580 Matrix Platinum 1536MB or Gainward GeForce GTX 580 "Phantom" 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

But is Fatal1ty 750 Watt enough to power one of these cards? Also any opinions on which one of those two better to buy?

Thanks!

Ok, stock 580 pulls a maximum of 317W, so even if either of those cards were pushing 400W, which I doubt, 750W power supply is plenty. As for which of the two cards to go for, the 3Gb card for the extra memory seems sensible to me.:)

'Lower power consumption compared to GTX 480, only 244 watts.' Ocuk's own words.

750w is plenty for any single 580 but in the OP u say u are looking at going sli when u have more cash and it aint gonna cut it for that and u will end up having to buy another psu.

I did mention i will be replacing my 750 watt in near future in my post and after that i will buy second video card. I will be getting 1200 watt PSU probably just to be safe. I just ordered Gainward GeForce GTX 580 "Phantom" 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card.

Thanks everyone for your advice and help much appreciated : )

He doesn't actually say what res he is running unless i am blind but as Cleeecooo says if the premium for the 3Gb card is not that much more then it is worth investing for the future.

Sorry guys I assume when someone is buying a beast of a card ,like this one, they are not gaming at anything less than 1920 X 1080 or more, perhaps I shouldn't.;)

As i said i will be replacing my PSU with 1200 Watt and buying second Phantom in a month or so when i get some extra money for 3 monitor set up :)
