Advice on plants!

Put a trough of mint by your back door, let it grow big (2' plus). Everytime you walk outside you'll brush against it and smell it:)

As for the front, a couple of pots with box trees in will look pretty smart either side of the front door. They're fairly expensive but you may find diy stores selling them off cheap, I got a couple of balls, prob about 50cm diameter for £10 each. Put fairy lights on them at christmas:)

Xmas tree in there should be ready in a few years. :p Could decorate it outside too and save having one indoors.

Rose bush, cheap roses when valentines day?

Something like a small tree which bears nice fruit you like?

A hedge and later be arty and cut it into a cool shape of a sexy women. :p Dont shave her bush tho. :p

Fountain?

Some people have palm trees or similar trees, maybe one of them?

Venus fly trap and hit it with all the plant fertilizer and max growth stuff u can and steroids of course and make a Audry 2. :p (little shop of horrors incase no one got that).

Well I went out to the garden centre today and picked myself up a few plants to put in..

Got a few lavenders, some different hebes, lots of smaller heathers, a couple other plants and the Japanese maple for the middle! Have got the week of work so can crack on and get it sorted this week! :)
 
Good stuff, glad you went with the maple! Probably a good idea to get some seeds this time of year also, much cheaper and will give you a splash of colour in the summer. Just get loads of seed trays and start them off indoors.
 
I wasn't wearing my glasses and thought the thread title said "Advice on pants"

Only when I realised that I was wrong did it feel safe to venture inside.
 
I would have some sort of evergreen that requires little maintenance and you could plant other things around the base?

Either that or an Acer (not a computer):

These come in a variety of sizes and look nice in the late spring/summer/early autumn (although they lose their leaves).

We've got one in our garden and is very hardy and not too big (4').

Yeh I really like the look of them, it should look great when its got its leaves properly. Wasn't too expensive either, was about £30 for that one. Overall I spent £100 on plants which was cheaper than the landscapers quoted me!
