Advice on Restaurant tab

I have just come back from a restaurant with my family. We paid the price they gave us on the bill and then left to go home. Now once we arrive home (about 15mins later) they call us saying they did not charge us for the drinks. Now they want us to pay for the amount we missed. We paid by cash so it would mean we have to go back to the restaurant to pay the money.

The amount they charged us we thought was overpriced anyway and now they want to add an extra £30 onto the tab. What i want to know is, do we have to go back to the restaurant to pay for the bill, or can we ignore it because it is thier mistake?

If you had paid, left and realised they have short changed you would they give the difference back I wonder?

Worst case this is a civil matter, personally, you paid in good faith and I would leave it at that, it is not your fault they can't bill properly.

How did they get your number

Sensible question.

I'd probably answer by saying they left their number with the reservation.

OP:

If you want to go back then pay them the monies. If you paid the bill and it did include drinks then they're being cheeky.

If you don't want to go back then don't pay them the money and tell them you didn't enjoy their overpriced food anyway.

Tell them that all change must be checked before leaving, and any corrections cannot be made once you leave the premises. :D

Nothing they can do, can always try the line you'd love to return to pay if they pay the travel fee's incurred due to there mistake that just so happen to work out at ~£30 ;)

Could they not hand your details over to the Police?

They could, but what would they say? "Er, we sort of let this guy and his family walk about without charging them for the drinks". "No, no crime has been committed and they did pay the bill that we gave them".
