Advice on Spec please

Anyone with advice for this build. I want to game, FOLD and some video-editing as well as number crunching.

Will be ordering Thursday but vendor is to build as my disabilities make it a bit difficult to self build.

I'm unsure whether to upgrade the mobo to sabretooth or rampage or if that is overkill.


I will most likely be upgrading the cpu in a year or two to maybe a 3970x or new 2011 cpu that is forthcoming from intel & should I choose the 3930K now instead.

Will this set up allow me to run a nvidia 690 easily enough.

Looks spot on, but I'd recommend swapping the board for a Gigabyte one, you get UK RMA.

You'll have no issues running a 690, but you should look at a 670 instead. Cheaper & performance is still there. I think 690 is overkill.

Looks fine but apparently team green is still better for folding than AMD so may want to drop the 7950

I'm not looking at a 690 yet but maybe when they come down in price I'm stickinwith a 7950 for now

Will the 750w power supply be enough if I want upgrade to a Nvidia 690 in future.

and any thoughts on 3820 or 3930 both will have a moderate clock of 4.4ghz
 
Finally decided on the 3930k and switched to gigabyte motherboard.

I know (now) that the 670 would be better for folding but I'm giving the 7950 a shot to see what it can do, and if I don't like it my nephew can have it for his birthday & I'll swap.

Apart from GFX I'm hoping not to have to upgrade for a while.
