I have a couple of PCs that are scratched to various degrees, i'd like to respray them,

I have never sprayed anything in my life, I've watched some vids on the safety part but i'm unsure of what primer or spray to use or the exact method,

Would any cheap spray metal primer / metal spray do? i'm not looking for a uber pro job just make some scratched cases look better,

A lot of the vids skip over exact details but is this method ok?

clean
sand with 180 grit paper
clean
primer x number of coats (depending on product i guess) lightly sand any obvious anomalies between
wet sand it with 1200 grit paper
clean
spray with main colour coats lightly sand any obvious anomalies between coats

The primer will depend on the material you are spraying, if it's steel a regular primer is fine. If it's aluminium then an etching primer is preferred.

Your method looks ok, I would however do a wet knock back with high grit before the final coat to take off high spots. No pressure on the wet and dry, just using the weight of the sanding block.
