Need to transport my rig on a 2 hour journey including about an hour on the M1.

I am going to put the case with the original packing material in its box and take out the GPU's and keep them separate.

I'll lie it flat in the boot of my car motherboard/CPU facing up.

Should this suffice?

you need that expanding foam stuff... put the rig on the back seats and fill the car with the foam..

once done call the AA and get them to tow your car to its destination..

then use explosives, fire and a chain saw to extract the rig from your car.

also post pics...

My advice, put rig behind passenger seat on floor and drive to destination

This, plus slide the passenger seat up against the PC, wedging it against the rear bench. I also place a towel between the PC and the seat, but that's mainly to stop damage to the seats!

Would you say it's better to have it standing up (not in the box) than lying flat?

EDIT: then again my Case (Cosmos 2) is so big I probably couldn't use my rear view mirror if I did this.

Fill the case with expanding foam so the GPUs don't dislodge on the journey.

Just lie it flat with the MOBO "floor" side. If its standing up and you hit a nice bump you may well do like other people have a rip the Heat Sink off, complete with CPU and half the board

I'd also advise packing the boot with kittens.

Had me in fits! :D

Edit: on a serious note just use a bit of savvy and make sure it cant move (like sticking it in between the passenger seat and footwell etc) itll be fine. You're not transporting a priceless case :p
